As we lament the close of the Summer, we are cushioned by one of the best seasons in Savannah, Fall. One of the greatest greetings to this season are the festivals that begin starting in September. This week on the blog we review some of September’s best events sure not to disappoint and filled with music, food and spirits.
Craft Brew Week/Craft Brew Festival August 31st – September 6th – One thing the fall does bring in addition to cooler weather, is the harvest. Craft Brew week starts this week with a taste of Savannah breweries that put on special events to showcase their beers all week. Locations include The Distillery, Green Truck Pub and Crystal Beer Parlor. Savannah Craft Brew Fest will take place at the Savannah Convention Center this Saturday from 12:00p.m. – 5:00p.m.

Bacon Fest September 4th and 5th – As if there are really any more words we need to add to this, the 2nd Annual Bacon Fest will take place on River Street. Get ready for select local restaurants to serve up their mouthwatering bacon creations all weekend long! Participating restaurants include: Ampersand, Bayou Café, Cheesecake Market, Chocolat by Adam Turoni, Feather & Freight, Leopold’s Ice Cream, Savannah Rae’s Popcorn, The Naked Dog, Tondee’s Tavern, Treylor Park, and Wet Willie’s.

Revival Festival September 12th – Brought to you by the creators of Savannah Stopover, Revival Festival celebrates Southern music including old-school electric blues to American folk. The lineup includes Fruit Bats, Those Darlins, and Robert Lee Coleman and The Night Owls.
Savannah Jazz Festival Sept 20th–27th – Join us for the 34th Annual Savannah Jazz Festival presented by Coastal Jazz Association! The annual festival celebrates jazz as a living art form‑built on a constantly evolving tradition and will offer all types of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight‑ahead and bop to melodic standards, and funky down‑home gutbucket blues. The festival boasts the best in international, national, regional and local jazz talent. Sponsored by the City of Savannah, the Festival is free and open to the public.

Oktoberfest Oct 2nd- 4th- As the finale to September’s events comes one of the largest and most celebrated throughout the world, Oktoberfest. From the infamous Wiener Dog Racing, Bratwurst Tasting, and Oompah Dancing, the celebration at the 32nd Annual Oktoberfest takes place on Historic River Street. Enjoy a bit of Germany, Savannah style, with a beer garden offering a variety of beers and food booths featuring German cuisine and live performances.
