Purchasing your first home is incredibly exciting and often incredibly overwhelming. The Realtor you choose to lead you through the process should be understanding, patient and can become a close friend. In this week’s blog, we asked a recent home buyer, Laurie Garner, what her first home buying experience was like when working with her actual close friend, Judge Realty agent, Casey Anderson.

What made you choose Judge Realty?

LG: One of my dearest friends Casey Anderson recently started working for Judge Realty and she was so excited to start this new journey in her life and I was excited to set roots down and start a new journey myself. It only seemed appropriate for us to make moves together.

Three words to describe Casey Anderson as an agent…

LG: 1) passionate 2) driven 3) caring

How would you describe the process from contract to close, how did we do?

LG: The process from contract to close was an eye opener for me. I knew buying a house would be one of the most exciting/stressful things I would do in my life or at least in the 30 years I’ve been on this planet. Casey and I had been searching for a while and the day this home went on the market she grabbed me from work and said I had to see the house NOW! I trusted her and when we unlocked the door and I knew that I wanted this to be my home. We made an offer that evening and kept our fingers crossed. The seller contacted us less than 24 hours later and accepted. After that the ball was rolling. Casey made what should be one of the most stressful events in my life a lot easier. She went above and beyond and was on top of her game through the entire process. She kept my worries at ease when I felt flustered. The day I closed will be a memory I hold dear forever. There were moments of excitement and fear while signing papers, but when I looked up and saw Casey at the end of the table and saw how happy she was for this new chapter in my life, it made me so thankful that one of my best friends could be a part of this journey . She truly enjoys finding homes not houses for people. She will do whatever it takes to make her client happy.

Advice for others selling / buying properties?

LG: Patience. This normally does not happen over night. I looked at houses over the past few years and none of them worked out. Tears were shed over a couple because I thought I would not find another house that I loved as much. I didn’t want to settle and I thought those slipped through my fingers for whatever reason. You have to go into the home-buying process with patience because there are going to be houses that possibly slip through your fingers as well. You have to be ok with that because it was not meant to be. Once you realize that, more than likely the perfect HOME will pop up for you too!

P.S. Have your S*** together. Because once the loan process starts everybody and their brother will need your information.

What was your overall experience working with Judge Realty?

LG: Phenomenal! I hope everyone gets to experience what I did on July 1st, 2015. The few other people I know at Judge shared in my excitement for this new chapter and I wish only the best for Judge Realty. Thank you!

This week we take a look at some of the newest businesses coming to downtown Savannah. The Olfactory Company, located on 15 York Street, recently opened its doors in historic downtown Savannah. Filled with world renowned perfumes, soaps, teas and a bevy of quirky gifts, this shop now adds a delightful twist to shopping downtown.

Owners Mark and Jennifer Armstrong, who also own a second Olfactory in Miami, chose Judge Realty to work with when looking for a business space in Savannah.

“We found Lori Judge when we began our Savannah property search from Miami. We weren’t able to be there at first and Lori was kind enough to begin the search before we even arrived. She was very receptive to our needs and found a great location that was appropriate for our build out plans.”

Throughout the whimsical aisles of this downtown shop one can find treasures from authentic mood rings to edible rose petals to ghost books to dancing queens.

“We are purveyors of fine continental soaps, teas, and oddments. Products offered include brands of long history, Penhaligon’s, Santa Maria Novella, Berdoues and many more. The Olfactory Company embraces a shopping experience that is pleasing to all the senses,” says Mark Armstrong.

We look forward to seeing all the amazing treasures The Olfactory Company brings in from around the globe to enlighten our senses even more!

Judge Realty now manages over 60 commercial units and has been the leading brokerage company to streamline the major developments on Broughton Street, Liberty Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard selling over $66 million last year.

Judge Realty is Savannah’s only full service, locally owned and operated brokerage company. Celebrating 10 years in business, Judge Realty specializes in residential and commercial real estate, as well as in property management and rentals.

When expanding your business it can be quite stressful for a company to choose the right space that combines both functionality and design.

When Prospector Co., the Savannah-based, internationally adored skincare line, could no longer work within their Broughton Street store for production, distribution and a store front, owner Kyle Hinton started looking for more space.

“We needed a space that could function as both our office and a shipping/receiving warehouse. We wanted to make sure the location was downtown, close to our store with a considerate amount of space to ship and receive pallets with ease, which is not an easy request.”

Kyle Hinton, owner of Prospector Co., relied on Lori Judge to help facilitate the find. Working with Judge Realty on everything from residential to commercial space for nearly five years, Kyle knew Lori would be able to find the perfect space.

“I have been working with Judge Realty for nearly 5 years now. Since beginning our business in Savannah, the experience has run from personal apartment hunting to our retail store location and so I always reach out to Lori whenever I am in the final stages of new ideas. She has a way of setting my mind at ease, becoming involved with the planning with great interest, and enthusiasm, and inevitably always closing the deal! It’s truly inspiring to work with a broker who is so supportive of their clients and community around them.”

Their offices are now located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and have been renovated to reflect the needs of both office space and distribution. Clean and fresh, much like the scents of their products, the interior was also designed by owner Kyle Hinton. With these new offices in place Prospector Co. looks to use the new space to explore new projects and is looking forward to sharing them with their customers throughout the year.

P: Buying your first home is a memorable, exciting, and sometimes overwhelming experience. My goal is to minimize the stress for my clients and guide them through the process. When I met Mcnab and Kristen Reeves they were newly married, and looking to purchase their first home. I was excited for the opportunity to work with them. We originally planned to start house hunting within a 1 year timeframe. However, the process was accelerated when they found 127 E 52nd Street after only a few trips out looking at properties. Mcnab and Kristen were wonderful to work with. They will undoubtedly be long-term clients of mine. I’m excited to see the personal touches they will add to this beautiful home!

What made you choose Judge Realty?

R: We had help from a good family friend and great realtor in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area, Lisa Sulka, who suggested we reach out to several realty groups in the area. When reaching out to Judge Realty, I called a friend, Tyler Mouchet (Judge Commercial Agent), who got me in touch with Pam Peterson. We first met with Pam and we decided after the first meeting to stick with Judge Realty because we felt very comfortable with Pam.

Three words to describe Pam Peterson as a realtor…

R: Reliable, thorough, and honest.

From start to finish, how did we do?

R: Pam did a great job from the very beginning, and now, even after we have closed, is still helping us have all the small details taken care of.

Advice for others looking to buy a home?

R: Find a realtor who you trust and is accessible. The process would have been frustrating if we did not have a realtor who was always available to me and/or go over things… even just to answer simple questions put us at ease.

What was your overall experience working with Judge Realty?

R:Great experience – would definitely work with them again!
